Right, the pedals...

So the picture was taken while I was waiting for my shoes to get in. I had to special order shoes, so when I took the bike, they put loaner strapped pedals on the bike so I could right it.
I only had them on for a day and the first day I had the click in, speedplay pedals, I totally ended up on my ass. Part of the deal I guess.

Good job Barry Bonds

Let me get out there and say congratulations to BB. I know people think he juiced, whatever. It's not his fault the rest of MLB's long ballers were juiced so he had to to keep up.
I hold Bug Selig responsible for the controversy surrounding this historic achievement. I mean, when he was appointed commissioner, it was supposed to be an interim position while he went out and found a suitable replacement. He should have looked farther than his kitchen for someone to fill that position. The reason he was interim in the first place is because he wasn't qualified for the job. So, Bud, this debacle is your fault, not Barry's.
Maybe MLB should should take a hint from cycling and test the hitters after every home run or 10 strike out game.
I for one am happy for Barry. Like one of the sports guys interviewed last night said: He was a hall of famer well before the late 90s when people suspect he started juicing. I mean, the kid's in the 500/500 club, for crying out loud, the guy is one of the best players ever. I would stop short of calling him the best hitter ever, I mean, I saw TG's last hit ever and even he gave all the props in the world to the the Splendid Splinter.
Congrats Barry.

My first ride

So I went for my first bike ride today. I got home around 4:30 and figured I would put in about a 30 min ride. I started down a bike path that went through different parks. After about 14 minutes, I turned around. This is where everything went wrong.
The bike path went through about 4 different parks and about every half mile there was Y in the path so that it went all over the area into different parks. After about 3 minutes on my way back, I was lost. About 2 minutes later, I saw something familiar and thought that I was back on the right path after another minute.
Well, after about 15 minutes on the way back I was totally lost and the rain had started. I stopped and asked some girl how to get back to an intersection I knew and she was like, go that way, make a right at the light and you are there.
Well, I made it to the light and she was right. I had about 3/4 of a mile to get home and it was pouring.
By the time I got home, I was completely drenched, but all in all it was a good 8 mile ride that took me about 35 minutes. What is that? About 14mph, not bad for my first ride.

Guess what I got, part 2!!!

Well, since I have pretty much everything I need for mountaineering, I thought I would get a new hobby to spend more money on.
So I got a new bike.
The difference between this and hiking and climbing is that I needed everything all at once. You know, the bike, pedals, shoes, helmet, pump, extra tubes, tools, gloves, shorts, jersey, ... Yeah, that was a nice expensive day for me, but hey, it should be pretty fun to ride for the next few months until the snows come.
I think the only thing I still need is a rack for my xterra to put it on. Until then though, it does fit in the back.
Yeah!
